Little Angels

In South Africa, infant rapes are so common that people lost hope in solutions.
These are some of the links to the most talked about baby rapes in South Africa. I will be posting more later on.

Little Angles is a non profit organization in South Africa founded by Phillip and Pat VanRensburg. They first turned their small home into a hospital for infant rape victims in 1997. After some legal and finance issues they bought a big house and became official in 2001. I personally love babies and children because they are so pure and innocent, therefore to hear of such heinous crimes is heartbreaking. Babies are covered in blood and tears and left roadside or in trash cans every day in South America and there is not much support for them. The African government is thinking of declaring a state emergency concerning the infant rapes (i don't know what they are waiting for). Babies as young as one week old are being raped by family members, or family friends. Men, in their 30, 40, 50 and even 60 rapes infants because they believe it will cure their HIV/AIDS. All the babies that are raped are then infected with the disease.

Thats the website for the organization. Because they have become a little bigger, they now support abused babies as well. One infant that they recieved was fed alcohol by the mother and suffered from a hungover for four days. Another infant was found tied up and locked in a house starving.

Baby rapes have occured in the U.S. as well.
A man by the name of Scott Wade Smith raped his girlfriends 5 month old baby girl.

ONE campaign

Hey guys. I am a big fan of Bono and his philanthropies and one of my favorites is ONE campaign. It is a non profit organization that helps increase government funding for international aid programs. It is affiliated with DATA (which Bono also works with), Bread for the World, World Vision, and Oxfam.

Their website is ONE.org and it would be really nice if you would visit it and see if it's something that you would like to participate with. Universities can be registered and your peers can be added as part of the profile. Also there is an online store so you can purchase shirts, hoodies, wristbands, hats, even baby clothes from ONE campaign. Go check it out now.
